Bombers Moon

Notes: This is Farson's fascinating first-hand account of London in the early stages of the Blitz, with good sketches by Tom Purvis. Billingsgate, the docks, the Thames, the Clubs, restaurants and every other place visited or observed by Farson. Farson remarks that "a time-bomb dropped before the house of my publisher and blocked the sales of a best-seller I had just brought out". He puts his own trouble into perspective by pointing out that the same publisher had just lost a warehouse containing three-quarters of a million books. Books brought out by Farson in 1940 were, Behind God's Back ("A journey across Africa on the eve of World War II from Windhoek to Durban, up the coast to Tanganyika then overland to Cameroon.") and a book club edition of The Way of a Transgressor. Bomber's Moon is a fascinating read, a must for any Farson collector and an important document in its own right. US edition by Harcourt, Brace & Co., New York 1941, subsequent reprint by Howard Baker, London 1970.
