Private detective John Taylor's latest case is going to make him a lot of money: more than one million pounds to find Pen Donavon, a man who claims he has evidence of the afterlife stored on a DVD. The editor of The Unnatural Inquirer, the most notorious gossip rag in the Nightside, made a deal with Donavon for exclusive rights, but now Donavon – and the DVD – have vanished.
Taylor may be the best at what he does, thanks to his supernatural ability to find anything or anyone, but this isn't going to be an easy job. He's used to the ubiquitous unsavoury characters of the Nightside, but it's becoming clear that someone altogether more powerful – and deadly – is also on the trail. Taylor must act fast to find the missing DVD before his mysterious adversary, or he may well be the next one to disappear.
