After the disaster of Culloden in April 1746, Charles Edward Stuart was a fugitive in Scotland for six months. Hounded by his foes, sheltered by his devoted Highland friends, Bonnie Prince Charlie evaded capture and sailed for France in September of the grim year. This is the story of his flight, and of the wild, beautiful country he claimed, in vain, as his birthright.
