The Lizzie Borden Sourcebook

No other murder trial has captured the imagination of the American people like the trial of Lizzie Borden in Fall River, Massachusetts. No other person has been as maligned as Lizzie Borden, who was found innocent of having axed to death her father and stepmother. No other similar person, on the other hand, has been the source of so many books, dramas, plays, operas, and movies as Lizzie Borden. Why so much unfading interest in this woman?
The answer may be found in The Lizzie Borden Sourcebook. The authors, David Kent and Robert Flynn, have put together an anthology of daily articles, commentaries and analysis published by various publications during the period of Lizzie’s trial. Every mood is covered; every nuance is covered; every swing of public opinion is covered; every media bias is covered, including apologies of those newspapers whose writers had maligned the young woman without knowing the facts.
This book reads better than a novel. The reportage allows us to feel the mood of the trial to the point that we also conclude that Lizzie Borden was innocent even though the real killer was never discovered, and we feel compelled to admit to that innocence.
The Lizzie Borden Sourcebook is available in paperback and E-Book editions. Similarly, two other titles in defense of Lizzie have the same editions: Lizzie Didn’t Do It! by Professor William Masterton, and Lizzie Didn’t Do It; Emma Did! by Elaine Watson—all three, bestsellers.
In the words of the Fall River Historical Society, “History lives on.”
