Divorce Attorney Helena Webster-Rumholdt is challenged by an adversary while in Central Park out on a run. Weapons are drawn, and only one of them survives.
A victim's body is found in a car which has been dumped into Central Park's Lake and NYPD's Detective Finkel Macaulay is called in to investigate the case, which is ruled a Homicide. The identification of the occupant of the vehicle only leads to more questions as to why he was in the Park on the night he was murdered.
As disturbing details emerge and begin to cloud the investigation, the case is sent to FBI Special Agent Nick Benson to investigate.
When Helena first meets with Nick their past connection is revealed, and opens up a confusing chain of events for Finkel, who has to come to terms with another layer of Nick's past. Emotional turmoil which comes at an inopportune moment for Finkel, who has to decide whether to continue to flounder in her marriage or to finally set herself free.
