About The Author
Zane Grey (1872 –1939) was best known for his adventure novels set on the American frontier. Riders of the Purple Sage (1912) was his best-selling book, but many of his bestsellers were later turned into Hollywood films. Grey was born in Zanesville, Ohio. His maternal great-great uncle Ebenezer Zane was an American Revolutionary War patriot and his early novels recounted the heroism of his ancestors
Grey studied at the University of Pennsylvania on a baseball scholarship and later became one of the first millionaire authors. He and his family later moved to California to be closer to the film industry and to enable Grey to fish in the Pacific.
