462pp , in English , ON collectors :: Robert Weaver ( 6 in 1921 to 26 in 2008) was an influential Canadian publisher and broadcaster . Born in Niagara Falls and studied at the University of Toronto , Weaver served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and Canadian Armed Forces during World War II . From 1948-1985 , Robert Weaver worked at the CBC , where he created a series of performances that identified and then told Canadian writers as Alice Munro unknown , Mordecai Richler , Timothy Findley, Margaret Atwood, and Leonard Cohen. In 1956 he founded the weaver Tamarack Review , a Canadian literary magazine. Throughout his career at CBC , Weaver edited more than a dozen anthologies and has initiated the annual CBC Literary Awards in 1979. In order to maintain direct contact with writers , Weaver rejected their promotions in the CBC. He declined appointment to the Order of Canada , saying it was critical nature " three-tier " of the award.
