A map to share information, stories and images of Scottish Mountain Bothies. Click on the circular markers to see details for each bothy.
Bothies are buildings in remote locations that provide basic shelter to outdoor enthusiasts. Many are maintained by the Mountain Bothy Association. They are governed by a code of expected behaviour, please follow it.
The majority of these photos and comments I collected while on a bicycle tour around the Highlands and Islands MBA bothies in the summer of 2012. Some things will have changed since then.
A shapefile version of these points is available to download here. You should independently verify the existence, location and condition of these - they include user-submitted data and you should not have any expectation that they are accurate.
It is not currently possible to comment or add new bothies directly. If you notice something that should be corrected/added please email alexander(at)mappit[dot]net and I'll make the relevant changes.
The MBA website is the best source of information about bothies (link below) there is now also an alright map of MBA bothies in the UK. The MBA welcomes reports on the condition of bothies.
