Ode to a sheep
Oh, woolly backed, E.C backed, subsidized maggot
When it comes to eatin’, to you we hand it
Flower, herb, and tree, leaf, grass and shrub
It’s all the same, to you it’s grub
And what you don’t get goes down a deers’ gob
But what the hell! It keeps the shepherd in a job!
The forest dies, it is a lamentation
Never mind, we’ll grow a plantation
We’ll plant em thick, straight rows the result
And in forty years time, turn ‘em to pulp.
As for the rest, we’ll burn till it’s gone
And turn the whole hill into a great big lawn.
But the countryside needs jobs, paid by the taxpayer
As to the cost, what should we care?
And so, woolly friend, when I lay down to sleep
But have a nightmare, I’ll be dreaming of sheep.
